プログラム概要
2026年10月18日（日）から2026年10月20日（火）までの3日間、東京ビッグサイトにて「第23回DIA日本年会2026」を開催いたします。
本年のテーマは、“境界を踏み越えて、「新結合」で拓く、予想を超えた未来”です。
現在、医療・医薬品開発の現場では、デジタル技術やAIの急速な発展、創薬・開発モデルの多様化とオープンイノベーション、規制改革、患者中心のアプローチ、多様なステークホルダーの参画、そしてサステナビリティや社会的価値の追求など、多面的な変革が同時進行しており、「かつてない変革の時代」を迎えています。
従来、医学・医療の領域は生物系・化学系に限定されがちでしたが、近年では理工学やIT技術との連携が進み、さらにELS（I 倫理的・法的・社会的課題）など、人間科学・社会科学との融合も不可欠となっています。
経済学者シュンペーターが提唱した「新結合（Neue Kombinationen）」とは、単なる発明や技術革新ではなく、既存の要素を新たな形で結びつける創造的な行為を指します。この「新結合」によって、非連続的な変化、すなわち「創造的破壊」が生まれ、社会や産業に新たな価値がもたらされます。
このような異分野の知見や技術を結びつける「新結合」は、現代においてますます重要な意味を持ちます。AI技術の進展により、情報の処理や出力は飛躍的に効率化されましたが、AIが生み出すのは既存の知識やパターンの延長線上にあるものです。そのため、既存の要素同士をこれまでにない形で結びつける創造的な試みは、AI時代における人間ならではの価値を生み出す「新結合」として、未来を切り拓く鍵となるのではないでしょうか。
本年会では、分野・立場・組織・国境を越えた多様な参加者が集い、異分野連携による「新結合」を通じて、これまでの想像を超える未来の可能性を共に切り拓く場を目指します。参加者一人ひとりが自身の専門性や経験を持ち寄り、他分野との対話や協働を通じて、医療・医薬品開発の新たな地平を切り拓く契機となることを期待しています。

「金継ぎ」と「新結合」
「金継ぎ」は、割れた陶磁器を漆で修復し、継ぎ目を金や銀で彩る日本の伝統技法です。破損を隠すのでなく、美として生かす独自の価値観を育んできました。長い歴史をもつ日本の医療に、新たな技術が融合し進化していく現在、過去と未来をつなぎ、新しい価値を生む「新結合」を象徴するモチーフとして用いました。

Program
Today, the fields of healthcare and pharmaceutical development are undergoing a transformation of unprecedented proportions.
Rapid advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), diversification of drug discovery and development models, open innovation, regulatory reforms, patient-centric approaches, engagement of diverse stakeholders, and the pursuit of sustainability and social value are all progressing simultaneously — ushering in an era of change unlike any before.

Medicine and healthcare have been traditionally confined to biological and chemical domains. In recent years, however, collaboration with engineering and information technology (IT) has accelerated, and integration with human and social sciences—such as addressing ELSI (ethical, legal, and social issues)—has become indispensable.
The concept of “Neue Kombinationen” (literally “new combination,” rendered as “innovation”) proposed by economist Joseph Schumpeter refers not merely to invention or technological innovation, but to the creative act of combining existing elements in new ways. Such “new combinations” drive discontinuous change (what Schumpeter called “creative destruction”), bringing new value to society and industry.

In today’s world, connecting knowledge and technologies across disciplines through “innovation ” is more critical than ever. While AI has dramatically improved the efficiency of information processing and output, what AI generates remains an extension of existing knowledge and patterns. Therefore, creative attempts to combine existing elements in unprecedented ways represent a uniquely human endeavor—one that may hold the key to shaping the future in the AI era.

The 23rd DIA Japan Annual Meeting provides a forum where participants from diverse fields, roles, organizations, and countries come together to explore possibilities beyond imagination through “innovation” born of interdisciplinary collaboration. We hope that each participant will bring their expertise and experience, engage in discussion and cooperation across disciplines, and seize this opportunity to open new horizons in healthcare and pharmaceutical development.

“Kintsugi” and “innovation”
Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique in which broken ceramics are repaired with lacquer and the seams are decorated with gold or silver. Rather than hiding the damage, it embraces the breakage as part of the object’s beauty, cultivating a unique aesthetic sensibility.As Japan’s long-established medical field continues to evolve through the integration of new technologies, we chose Kintsugi as a motif to symbolize “new synthesis”—the act of connecting past and future to create new value.
